Here at UYMP, we’ve been very excited to receive the new teaser trailer for Hilda Paredes’ Codice de Adivinanzas.
New Trailer for Hilda Paredes' Codice de Adivinanzas
17 October 2019
Codice de Adivinanzas contains settings of riddles in Maya on poems written by the contemporary Maya poetess Briceida Cuevas Cob. This work, for speaker and viola, was specifically written for Valentina Vaparsky (voice) and Garth Knox (viola), with the support of Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, Mexico, in 2017. This work was subsequently premiered at the Savoy Truffle Festival in Megève, France by Vaparsky and Knox in August 2019.
The trailer, which can be viewedhere, contains snapshots of this premiere and therefore provides a fascinating glimpse into this work which we, at UYMP, hope will receive many more performances.
