Luís Tinoco’s new album Kokyuu is now released, bringing together five major works for soloist and orchestra and marking a significant new statement in his orchestral output.
Centred on the idea of breath, balance and musical dialogue, Kokyuu presents concertos for alto saxophone, cello, accordion and clarinet, alongside Work Songs for voice and orchestra. The album features performances by leading Portuguese ensembles and soloists, captured with clarity and expressive focus.
To accompany the release, a short making-of trailer offers insight into the recording process and Tinoco’s artistic vision, tracing how the concept of “breathing” shapes the music’s structure, pacing and emotional trajectory.
The album has already received outstanding critical recognition. Pizzicato awarded Kokyuu five notes, praising the music’s evocative sound world, the vivid orchestral writing and the compelling interplay between soloists and ensemble, highlighting Tinoco’s distinctive and confident compositional voice.
