UYMP are very pleased to report that on December 16, 2018, Robert Saxton work, Shakespeare Scenes, for solo trumpet and string orchestra, was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on ‘Sarah Walker with Scarlatti, Saxton and Sibelius’.
Robert Saxton’s ‘Shakespeare Scenes’ broadcast on BBC Radio 3
7 January 2019Shakespeare Scenes was commissioned by Simon Desbruslais with funds provided by the Britten‐Pears Foundation and the RVW Trust, for a live concert and recording project 2012‐2013 in conjunction with The Orchestra of the Swan, Stratford‐upon‐Avon and the Signum recording label.
The first performance was given on 24th May 2013 in Stratford Civic Hall by Simon Desbruslais and The Orchestra of the Swan, conducted by its founder and Music Director, David Curtis. It has also subsequently been recorded by Simon Desbruslais on the signum classics CD, Psalm: Contemporary British Trumpet Concertos.
