Luís Tinoco's long standing collaboration with former Monty Python star Terry Jones continues with two exciting projects happening in Lisbon over the coming months.
Luís Tinoco and Terry Jones present Fantastic Tales and Evil Machines
1 December 2007Contos Fantasticos (Fantastic Tales) is a 35-minute work for narrator and orchestra, commissioned and performed by the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, which dramatically sets to music three children's stories by Terry Jones. It has proved to be a huge success since its premiere in March 2006, both during the initial sell out run, and for its revival in February this year. An English version of the work has been made which Terry Jones will narrate himself on 7th, 8th and 9th of December at the Teatro Sao Luiz in Lisbon. Joao Reis will reprise his role as narrator for the original Portuguese language version on the 14th and 15th of December. These concerts, which also feature Tinoco's orchestral overture Zapping (2004), will be performed by the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, conducted by Cesário Costa. Early next year, the Teatro Sao Luiz will see the world premiere of a new musical fantasy, Evil Machines. Tinoco's music is set to a whimsical libretto by Terry Jones, who also directs the work. The machines of the title are brought to life by a cast of twelve, suitably mechanised by fantastic costumes, designed by Vinilla Burnham, whose previous credits include such films as 'The Fifth Element' and 'Batman'. Performances run from January 12th until February 3rd.
