    Thomas Simaku - Winner of the 2004 Serocki International Prize

    The jury meetings of the 2004 Kazimierz Serocki International Composer's Competition took place from 14th to 16th May 2004 in Radziejowice Palace near Warsaw. After the examination of 98 compositions submitted from all over the world, the jury, chaired by the distinguished Polish composer Zygmunt Krauze, gave the First Prize of the Polish Society for Contemporary Music to Thomas Simaku for his composition Plenilunio II per Orchestra d'Archi.

    Sadie Harrison - world premieres

    The premiere and television broadcast of Harrison's violin concerto, An Unexpected Light, was given by the soloist Rusne Mataityte with the St. Christopherus Chamber Orchestra under Donatus Katkus in Vilnius in February 2004.

    David Blake's most recent works are two song cycles on the same theme: settings of Chinese poems in his own English versions. The Lonely Wife is a theatre (or concert) piece for soprano, flute and percussion (all female performers), duration 16 minutes, and The Lonely Wife II is for mezzo and guitar, duration 8 minutes.
