UYMP composers Sadie Harrison and David Lancaster have been working on a project which commemorates the 70th anniversary of the death of Dylan Thomas, by making new settings of the Welsh poet’s work. Along with new songs by fellow composers Philip Grange, Rhian Samuel and Hayley Jenkins, the songs will be performed by Christopher O’Gorman (tenor) and David Pipe (piano) at the Late Music York concert on Saturday 4th November, just a few days before the anniversary of Thomas’ passing.

3 August 2023Professor John Goodby, a leading authority on Dylan Thomas and editor of Thomas’ Collected Poems, has been advising composers and he will introduce the poems at the concert. A CD recording of all the new songs will be produced in 2024 and a new biography of Thomas by John Goodby will follow.
Both Sadie Harrison’s setting of Love in the Asylum and David Lancaster’s The force that through the green fuse will be published by UYMP.
