On 17 June 2017 the feature length documentary THE STAGING POST (Light Sound Art Film) will be premiered in Sydney with a further screening in Melbourne on 18 June. We are delighted that excerpts from Sadie Harrison’s The Rosegarden of Light CD (Toccata Classics) are being used as part of the soundtrack. The tracks - Bahar nastaran-e bihag (Radio Piece) and Watan Jan (Dear Homeland) are arrangements of a popular Afghan song and dance and are performed by the young ladies of Ensemble Zohra from the Afghanistan National Institute of Music, conducted by Camilo Jauregui.
Sadie Harrison to feature in Australian Documentary
5 June 2017Director, Jolyon Hoff: 'The Staging Post follows Muzafar and Khadim, two Afghan refugees, stuck in Indonesia after Australia 'stopped the boats'. Facing many years in limbo they created a community, started a refugee education revolution and changed UN refugee policy. A film about friendship, connection and the power of community.'
The Rosegarden of Light CD featuring Ensemble Zohra alongside US ensemble Cuatro Puntos and solo viola/aranger Kevin Bishop has received much critical acclaim, recently being named as one of Naxos’ top 12 recordings of 2016.
