After its world premiere at the Brighton Dome in May, Ed Hughes and Lizzie Thynne’s collaborative piece ‘Brighton: Symphony of a City’ opens the Autumn season at the new Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) at the University of Sussex on Friday 7th October 2016.
Attenborough Centre Performance for Ed Hughes’ “Brighton: Symphony of a City”
5 October 2016Originally commissioned for the 50th anniversary of the Brighton Festival, Hughes’ orchestral work will again be performed by the Orchestra of Sound and Light, alongside Thynne’s silent film.
The work is inspired by Walther Ruttman’s, ‘Berlin: Symphony of a Great City’ and aims to emulate his work whilst being a modern take on a classic.
Bringing together memories of Brighton with the modern day, this is a celebration of the 21st century city and an exciting fusion of silent film and live music.
The work is supported by Screen Archive South East and the University of Sussex.
