Ground 
This piece is linked to instrumental material in States of Innocence (2024), my opera inspired by John Milton's epic poem, Paradise Lost (1674).

Ground is a 17th century form featuring a repeating bass line over which instrumental lines are woven. Two of the instrumentalists have elaborate lines in canon (imitation). 

The piece is also available in arrangements for string ensemble, and for solo cello and piano (with optional second cello solo).
