UYMP is delighted that Hilda Paredes has been invited to be a Senior Composer at June in Buffalo 2020, thus one or more of her pieces will be performed at the festival. Other Senior Composers are David Felder, Robert H.P. Platz, Roger Reynolds and Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon. In addition, the Arditti Quartet, with whom Paredes has a long association, will be one of the resident ensembles (together with Ensemble Signal, Ensemble Son, Slee Sinfonietta and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra), and Irvine Arditti will be a special guest, alongside Brad Lubman and Nicholas Isherwood.

The festival was founded by Morton Feldman in 1976, then re-envisioned in 1985 by David Felder, and has become the model and source of inspiration for later American contemporary music festivals. This year’s festival will take place from June 1st to 7th 2020, at the University at Buffalo. It will offer an intensive schedule of lectures, masterclasses, rehearsals and professional presentations, in addition to afternoon and evening concerts which will be open to the public.
