UYMP are delighted to announce that the extremely talented Portuguese composer Luís Tinoco has been signed to our catalogue from the beginning of 2005.
UYMP Welcomes Luís Tinoco
1 February 2005"...music of darker emotions and strong atmosphere; clearly a composer to listen out for." - Richard Whitehouse, UK
"Tinoco, always stimulating our attention, continues discharging a battery of imagination, with rich combinations of instruments and counterpoint thinking, that could only create enthusiastic approval and admiration." - Manuel Pedro Ferreira, O Público, Portugal
"Powerfully descriptive." - Maria Gonçalves de Sousa, Jornal de Letras
Tinoco achieves remarkable breadth in his catalogue of works, encompassing orchestral, vocal, solo and chamber works. His style is extremely versatile, from passionate, moving works such as Chant for East Timor (1998) and Three Poems from the East (2001), to glittering, dramatic works such as Round Time (2002) and more light-hearted or humorous works like Zapping (2004) and Short Cuts (2003). However, all are imbued with a deep sense of rhythm and dramatic form. We are most excited about the prosperous future of Tinoco's unique and characteristic voice.
