Simon Bainbridge wins British Composer Award

It was announced at a ceremony in London on Tuesday 6th December, that UYMP composer Simon Bainbridge has been honoured with the British Composer Award for Inspiration, one of the first Gift of BASCA awards.

The award recognises Simon's contribution to contemporary music and was presented by a former student of his, Luke Bedford. This is the first year that the British Composer Awards have acknowledged a lifetime achievement and celebrated the musical career of a composer as a whole. Jennifer Walshe was the other recipient of this new award category, given the British Composer Award for Innovation.
