SADIE HARRISON New works and international performances in 2012

2012 is already proving to be a busy year for Sadie Harrison, with several premieres and international performances. February and March see the first performances of several chamber works for Wells Cathedral School pupils and double bass virtuoso, David Heyes.

In August, the acclaimed baritone, Paul Carey Jones and pianist, Ian Ryan will premiere The Seeds of Love, a set of songs based on Joseph Taylor's 1905 renditions of traditional English folksongs. These songs will form part of a programme at the Late Music Festival in York, before which Sadie will be giving an informal talk. Later in the Festival, Carla Souza of Souza Winds will play her solo work for flute, Three Expositions, described as a 'beautifully constructed and fascinating work' (Gary Higginson). Later in the year, the extraordinary Lithuanian violinist Rusne Mataityte will give the premiere of a substantial new work for violin and piano '...in small things remembered...'. It will take place in the Kaunas Festival of Contemporary Music 'Is Arti' in October, alongside Rusne's interpretation of Sadie's extended solo work Bavad Khair Baqi! from her Afghan-inspired Light Garden Trilogy, described as a work of 'utmost intensity...absolutely riveting' (Colin Clarke). Sadie has recently finished a new work for David Heyes, Mr. Heyes' Curious Cabinet of Dances and Laments or His Master's Quodlibet, for double bass and piano, and is working on pieces for pianist, Duncan Honeybourne, and clarinet and viola duo, Fiona Cross and Abigail Fenna.
