On Beholding a Rainbow

This week, NMC Records released a major new recording of orchestral works by Anthony Gilbert. It features his violin concerto, On Beholding a Rainbow, a truly powerful masterpiece, performed by Anthony Marwood and the RNCM Symphony Orchestra under Garry Walker.

The disc also features a BBC Symphony Orchestra/Sir Andrew Davis recording of Gilbert's mesmerising settings of Sarah Day's poetry, under the title Certain Lights Reflecting, sung on this disc by Susan Bickley. Another Sarah Day-inspired piece ...into the Gyre of a Madder Dance and Unrise, both recorded by the RNCM Wind Ensemble and Clark Rundell, are also included.
