Hinrichsen Foundation Grant for Sadie Harrison's Rosegarden of Light Tour 2016

We are delighted that Sadie Harrison and The Rosegarden of Light UK Tour 2016 has been awarded a grant from the Hinrichsen Foundation.

The funding will support performances across England, Germany and The Netherlands.

The concerts will take place between 28 May - 7 June 2016, at the Purbeck Arts Weeks Festival in Swanage, the Brighton Fringe Festival, York Late Music Festival, the Silk Mill Studios in Frome, St. Peter’s Church, Shaftesbury, the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy, Berlin and as part of a Syrian refugee music programme located outside The Hague. 

There will also be a CD Launch concert and reception at Goldsmiths, University of London in association with the Afghan Music Unit on 2 June to celebrate the release of Toccata Classics’ The Rosegarden of Light (CD342) which features several works from the concert series and also introduces two youth groups from the Afghanistan National Institute of Music - the Junior Traditional Ensemble and Ensemble Zohra, Afghanistan’s only girl’s ensemble. 

The project has already been supported by an Arts Council Grant for the Arts (UK), and funds from the RVW Trust (UK), the Ambache Charitable Foundation (UK), New Music USA (USA), Greater Hartford Arts Council (USA), Mattina R. Procter Foundation (USA).

Harrison was born in Adelaide, Australia and moved to England in 1970.

She gained her Masters and Doctorate in Composition at Kings College, London studying under Nicola LeFanu and David Lumsdaine.
