The commission is for a multi-movement work featuring Sadie's interpretation of Afghan songs for string sextet with interludes of simple Afghan folk songs to be played by children. It will be performed by members of the US-based groups Cuatro Puntos and the Avery Ensemble (a collective of chamber musicians dedicated to global cooperation and peace through the writing, performance, and teaching of music worldwide) and children from the AFCECO Girl's Orphanage in Kabul and the Afghanistan National Institute for Music. The performances will initially take place in September 2015 in Connecticut, USA with video links/recordings from the Afghan venues.
