A Blest Trio of Sirens

A new book on three groundbreaking 20th century female composers, Elisabeth Lutyens, Elizabeth Maconchy and Grace Williams Lutyens, Maconchy, Williams and 20th Century British Music: A Blest Trio of Sirens is to be published by Ashgate Press in May 2012.

The author is Rhiannon Mathias, writer, lecturer, broadcaster and flautist, who is Director of the William Mathias Music Centre and a Visiting Fellow in Music at Bangor University. This is a comprehensive survey of music by the three composers, who were contemporaries at the Royal College of Music, all of whom began their careers with performances at the Macnaghten-Lemare concerts in the 1930s and who went on to play an important part in British music of the 20th century. www.ashgate.com
